March 2011: Our Own Birdfeeder

We have been trying to feed the birds in our backyard for 2 years.  We bought a traditional bird feeder, filled it with seeds and waited.  Well we have had a variety of wildlife come calling - very few birds however - We have had racoons, armadillos and deer, but birds far and few.  So, this year we tried making our own.  We got a pine cone, covered it in peanut butter and rolled on bird seed - and you would not believe how great it was.  The only wildlife I saw trying to eat the seeds - were birds, next year we will make one for each tree.

Wyatt really took to ribs and still loves meat on a bone - right now his favorite are chicken wings.

January 2011: Blue Springs with the Manatees and the Fullers

We took a trip to Blue Springs this January and saw a million manatees and really creepy fish sitting in long perfectly symmetrical lines.  While we were there picked up a little wood sprite with blue wings and we took her home.

January 2011: I'm A Big Kid Now!

 Wyatt went through a BIG  - "I Love the Phone Phase" - the little dude wanted to hold it all the time.  And he would put it up to his ear and say, "Hello.  Hello.  Hello."  In a very serious tone.  If you asked him who he was talking to he always said - "Mimi."    He still does that part, as a matter of fact.

Gymboree is/has been great for both Meredith and Wyatt - they learn/ed and practice/ed many important skills and after they always take/took a good nap - so it is/was good for me as well. 

A Year In Review - 2011

Ok, so I have been very slow in posting pictures this year - kids are much more work than I ever thought.  They keep me busy, but I am going to try!

Wyatt's First Haircut!

Wyatt is now 18 months and he went in -today for his first haircut. His hair was different lengths all over his head (some short, some long) - he was starting to look a little scraggly. He had a little bit of curl in the back which is/was adorable, but we had to risk losing the curl so he could look a little styled.

When we went into Doodle Doos he was in a great mood - lots of toys to look at and play with. He sat on the boat chair and Ms. Cynthia gave him a Lollipop which put him in a great mood. She got out the scissors and did some trimming and he was OK with that, but not overly thrilled. Then she got out the buzz trimmer and he was having none of that. He made it clear to me, Ms Cynthia and everyone else at the shop that he was not happy with this turn of event. However, as soon as the trimmer went off and he was off the chair he was back to his happy Wyatt self. He even gave Ms. Cynthia a high five on our way out.
